How to choose your South Africa circuit?
Duration is everything. In 10 to 14 days, we recommend a combination of Cape Town, the Garden Route and a short safari in the Kruger, with a domestic flight between the two. It's the most popular format and already offers a solid overview of the country. To explore further, a 15 to 20-day stay allows you to add the Drakensberg, iSimangaliso or the Karoo hinterland, without turning the trip into a race. Beyond that, you can extend towards Victoria Falls or neighbouring Namibia.
South African distances are deceptive: 1,400 km separate Cape Town from Johannesburg. A domestic flight is better than a day lost on the highway.
Different circuit types
Our cultural itineraries focus on Soweto, the Apartheid Museum, Robben Island and Cape Town's townships, led by local guides who have lived these places. Adventure trips combine hiking in the Cederberg or Drakensberg, shark diving in Gansbaai and helicopter flights over the Cape Peninsula.
For family departures, we prioritise malaria-free reserves like Madikwe or Welgevonden, short stages and lodges that welcome children from 6 years old with tailored activities.
What is the best season?
From May to September, the dry season is ideal for safari: low vegetation, animals at watering holes, clear skies. Mornings drop to 5-10°C in the bushveld, bring a fleece. For Cape Town and the coast, the high season runs from October to April, with temperatures of 22 to 28°C and mild evenings. April, May and October offer the best compromise for combining both experiences in the same trip, without crowds or heavy rain.
Our quality commitment
Patricia coordinates each trip from our offices in the capital, with an English-speaking team available seven days a week during your stay. South Africa is registered with Atout France and guaranteed by APST, which secures your funds and repatriation assistance. We work with salaried guides or long-standing partners, selected for their field knowledge rather than their presentation. Every quote is adjustable until departure.
